Trip to Israel, Part 2

I hope you enjoyed Part 1 of our Israel Trip! Today, we will cover the second part and then there will be a Third Part where I cover the Replica of the Tabernacle which was by far my favorite part of our trip! I can’t wait to share that with you.

We share Jerusalem today, what a beautiful experience that was.

Jerusalem-

We went there on Shabbat (which is a Saturday) and it was so quiet everywhere. Our journey first started on the mount of Olives where so much took place in Scripture.

Jesus frequently taught there and it was a passing point to get into Jerusalem to the temple so it always was busy with travelers.

If you look down, you can see all of Jerusalem from this viewpoint, it is beautiful (the first image is from the Mt. of Olives).

Entry-

Jesus’ entry on Palm Sunday was here (obviously without the paved street).

Jesus Crying-

This point is right across from where the Holy of Holies would have been if Jesus looked at the temple and this is where they think he wept over Jerusalem.

They made this building where they believe he was sitting at the time.

Gethsemane-

Gethsemane sits at the base of the Mount of Olives. It’s where our Savior spend much time in prayer. This was a very surreal place to visit. The garden is so beautiful with all the olive trees budding with olives.  It makes so much sense why Jesus brought the example that he did.

It was something they saw and understood.

It’s also where he got arrested where Judah betrayed him with a kiss.

Via Dolorosa & Golgotha-

There are two locations where they say Jesus was crucified. The garden was so beautiful where they laid him and the distance was quite far from where he started carrying his cross down the Via Dolorosa. No wonder he no longer had the strength and Simon needed to help him. Though the distance wasn’t overly far, he was so hurt and had no strength to do it.

(I didn’t get a still image of where Calvary was but it’s in the video.)

Tomb-

This is the tomb where they laid Jesus. Walking in there I could not hold tears. I cried like a little baby. For me spiritually, it was the deepest and most intimate thing with my Saviour throughout the entire trip.

I felt so close to him and my heart was just full of so much gratitude.

My biggest regret is trying to do Jerusalem in one day. Though we didn’t even do all of Jerusalem but the amount we did was too overwhelming.

I’d recommend splitting up Jerusalem into 2-3 days so you can digest all of the information.

Thank you for joining us on our trip, until we meet again in Part 2.
